Middle of the Night Poem

I wrote this a few nights ago when I could not sleep.

In the stillness I lay
with a cat who wants to play.
No one knows the trials that
I face each and every day.

Do I run and hide?
Or do I keep going
and remember
that God is on my side?

As I lay and try to sleep
I know that to God
I’ve given
my soul to keep.

My God is always faithful
and will sustain me till the end
as I meet the new
situations that life has decided to send.

For though I am weary
and confused and in pain,
I will rely on my God through the storms and
know that He will reign.

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
